"Three coins in a fountain" - The Historic Centre: Renaissance and Baroque Rome (3 hours)

Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the church of St. Ignazio, Hadrian's Temple, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, the Campidoglio

Duration: 3 hours

Rome's historic center is chock full of wonderful things to see and in a very concentrated area. This makes it a perfect place for a walking tour. For four hundred years pope after pope, in a race for glory, left behind them one beautiful monument after another. We will visit them and tell you the often-fascinating stories of how they came to be. The city center has some of the Baroque era's most famous monuments and fountains, but some amazing reminders of ancient Rome exist as well. We'll visit the most impressive and well preserved temple of the Emperors; the Pantheon. Rome's colourful history of emperors, artists, writers and popes will be brought to life for you as we walk the city's antique, cobbled streets. Not to be missed either is a stop for some of the best ice cream in town. And if you're so inclined we know some interesting, out of the way shops; artisan-run stores that aren't after your tourist dollars.
